Survivors of Gender Based Violence deserve recognition and interventions that will help them heal and move on with life so that they realize their dreams. 22- year old Constance Banda from Nkosi Village, T/A Mphonde in Nkhotakota district dropped out of school in the year 2020 amid Covid-19 pandemic. She was in standard 8 the time she dropped out. Due to measures that were put in place as a strategy of containing the virus such as closure of schools, Constance was forced into terrible situations at home where she was forced to become the source of income to sustain their household during the time. + She was not pleased with her parents' idea but the tension was hard to bear. When schools were opened later, she could not go back to school as she had lost interest until when she was selected to be enrolled for Umunthu Plus's #Skills4Her initiative. She and 7 other girls were trained in textile designing in the year 2021 for a period of six months. Today, She is training a ten-member mother group from Kanyenje primary school in sewing sanitary pads for the school and other outfits for sale by the group as well. Constance is so delighted to have been helped to heal from the trauma she had before.
